How to use Google Keyword Planner for choosing best keywords?

Google keyword planner is a very helpful tool for checking prefect keywords for your blog meta keywords, meta description, post titles and much more. If you want that you also get some good traffic from search engines, then just use this tool for a perfect post titles and keywords.

So, for using the Google Keyword planner, the first thing you will have to do is create a Google adword account or sign in with a one existing Google account.

So before providing the tips to use it lets learn some of its benefits.

Benefits of using Google Keyword planner

  • Get traffic statics: You get all the information about the average monthly visits to the keyword or the group of keywords you are searching. You get an estimate on the number of clicks on the keyword and the CPC of the keywords.
  • Know the Keyword Competition: You can even check that a particular keyword is providing how much competition to you.

How to access it?

For accessing Google Keyword planner, you have to sign up at Google adwords. Now after creating an account, just go to the option “tools and analysis” and select Google Keyword planner from there.

Now you have just signed in to your account.

How to use Google Keyword Planner for choosing perfect keywords for website?

When you have entered your Google Keyword planner account you will get four option there as shown in pic below.

  • Search for new keyword and ad group ideas: 

This is the place where you can search about any keyword, that how much it gets traffic and how much competition is it providing. For example you enter any keyword suppose “blogging” (this is a small keyword, you must check long tail keywords for your posts).

So, when you enter this keyword and press “Get Idea”. You will get two options on your screen, as shown below.

One is “Ad Group ideas” and other is “Keyword ideas”. You can check both the options for finding the perfect keyword for you.

Now for arranging your keyword in descending order from highest to lowest just click on the “Avg. Monthly visit”. The keywords will arrange in  in descending order. Now just select a keyword that has most searches with low or medium competition.

You can also check multiple keywords at same time by just entering your keywords here.

You also get some bidding information from these keywords, which is for Google adwords purpose.

  • Get search volume for a list of keywords

This is other great option in Google Keyword planner. You can add a number of keywords here and get results for them. This option also provides a great option for searching traffic estimates for exact match, broad match and phrase match.

For these option follow the instructions:

Broad match: Just type your keywords in the search box with comma’s separating each keyword.

Phrase match: “Enter keyword in inverted commas”

Exact match: [Put keyword in brackets for exact keyword search]

You can even upload a file here containing your keywords for getting results for them.

For better prescription of the keywords for particular area you can change the location option.

How to use Google Keyword Planner

  • Multiply keywords list to get new keyword ideas: 

This is a great feature of this tool. You can enter different keywords to this option and get keyword ideas by multiplication of the keywords. New combinations of your keywords will be shown to you. You have to create two list of keywords here and after you press ‘GET IDEA” you will get combinations of the keywords entered by you and their search results.

    Very much useful post for keyword research. Well explained and surely i recommend this for new bloggers. I got to know few unknown things in your post regard google keyword tool.

    Everything is fine except, the video at bottom. Well edited and good to watch. I am unhappy with video length. 39 min video is too long. I expect. So please make video below 7 min hardly recommending not more than 5 min. That will really help views and also for slow internet speed users.

    I personally use Google keyword tool for writing post titles. So its a blogger duty to know about this google keyword tool and also how to use it. Thanks for sharing such a great post.

    Keyword researching is a part of onpage seo. And its impotent for ranking also. Without keyword we don’t rank well in search engine.keyword planner is easy to use to get group ideas.And good thing is that its FREE :).
    I advise you,do keyword research on google trand also its give you new keyword and proper result also.Keep researching on keyword planner and google trand to make your post on first page.

    • Yup you are absolutely right that Google trends is also a good place to get most trending keywords out there for your niche. It is also worth checking once a while you are creating a new post 🙂
